If you have a background in regulations and compliance, this position will provide you with an important forward-facing advisory function for a company who is continually expanding their energy facilities and market penetration.
Our client's platform is pioneering new ways for businesses to meet their environmental sustainability imperatives, expand renewable energy consumption, reduce emissions, and mitigate risk in their operations. Your job would be to monitor, analyze, and shape these projects into compliance–ensuring secure transactions and vendor dependability.

THE ROLE:
The Regulatory Manager serves as a subject matter expert across key renewable fuel standard programs, including RFS (RINs), LCFS/CFP, ISCC, and other international, federal and state initiatives. This position directly supports the Compliance Director and other team members, while collaborating extensively with internal stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and management of regulatory programs. The role also involves forward-facing communications with key customers and vendors impacted by regulatory frameworks.
A significant function of this role includes oversight of international compliance efforts, particularly in global markets where carbon programs are in place or under development, such as South America and new programs in Canada.
This role will spearhead the efforts to understand new regulations coming online in various states and countries and then help the overall company understand how to implement those evolutions. The energy landscape is changing rapidly and our client sees a massive opportunity to provide regulatory expertise both in house as well as to its customers.
Our client’s compliance business consists of the following regulatory regimes:
The Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program: RINs, RVOs, Biofuels, etc.
Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS)/Clean Fuels Program (CFP)
International regulatory programs: ISCC, Canada CFR, and others
Other emerging regulatory regimes associated with Voluntary Credits, Solar, Renewable Energy Credits, CCS, etc.
Due to their impressive growth, our client is considering additional backgrounds outside of the traditional energy channels. Do you have experience in internal audit? Perhaps you keep up to date with the changing landscape around regulatory issues in another industry. If so, our client has the entrepreneurial culture and the willingness to train someone with a solid compliance, audit, or regulatory background currently employed outside of the energy industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consistently bring forward thinking ideas and action plans for future goals and compliance function enhancements.
Remain up to date on industry changes, trends, laws, regulations, and best practices.
Update management on any upcoming regulatory changes
Liaison with commercial team(s) on regulatory impacts to the business
Support and lead optimization and innovation of system utilization around compliance
New Regulatory Programs oversight:
Explore, learn, set-up and manage new regulatory programs as they are released and developed (ex. RenovaBIO)
Provide guidance and educate necessary personnel of the new regulatory programs
Develop and assist with new system and program set up, as needed, for new regulatory programs
Process Improvement:
Advocate for process improvements across all regulatory programs
Reporting and Attestations
Support team on all annual and quarterly reporting as well as all required attestations across all regulatory programs

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in related field or general business administration preferred
Equivalent of 3-5+ years in energy, government, banking, etc. (or comparable, highly regulated industry regulatory and/or compliance experience)
Prior experience in renewable fuel, energy, or ag-based carbon credit programs a plus
Life long learner orientation
Curious self starter willing to stay on top of current regulatory trends
